WEEEFrom 2nd January 2007 the Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive was adopted into law. This changes the way redundant Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) is dealt with.
There are two types of WEEE; Historical WEEE purchased before 15th August 2005, and New WEEE purchased after that date, and marked with a Wheelie Bin with a cross through it. The responsibility for recycling New WEEE lies with the original producer. Historical WEEE is more complex. If you are purchasing a new piece of EEE to replace an old one, then the supplier of the new EEE has the responsibility of recycling the old. If your historic WEEE is not to be replaced, then the responsibility for recycling lies with the user. LEL, because of our coverage of the UK, work with a number of EEE producers providing collection services, often delivering and installing new equipment at the same time. We also provide collection and recycling services direct to users, often picking up WEEE at the same time as other types of waste. Please enquire for a service tailored to your requirements. |
